The alignment, the distance between the two knobs, is critical and is preset at the factory.

• When the knobs are too close together the string winds too fast (A).
• When the knobs are too far apart, the string winds too slowly (B).
• When the knobs become loose, the Yo-Yo tends to adjust itself in the direction of (B).
• All of the above cause problems. Sometimes a drop of SuperGlue will fix it.
